Working Parent respects the privacy of its readers and members. This policy explains what information is collected through workingparent.org, why it is used, and the service providers that help operate the publication.
Information Working Parent collects
- Email signups: your email address when you join the free edition or another email list.
- Membership information: information needed to create and manage a paid membership, such as your name, email address, plan, billing status, and transaction records.
- Messages: your name, email address, subject, and message when you use the Contact page.
- Site-use information: standard browser, device, referral, page-view, and approximate location information collected by hosting, security, and analytics services.
- Saved library: if you are signed in and save a piece to My Library, Working Parent stores the article identifier and the date you saved it with your account so your library is available across devices.
Email and newsletters
Working Parent uses Mailchimp to manage email subscribers and send publication emails. Mailchimp may process your email address, signup information, and information about email delivery and engagement. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in an email.
Memberships and payments
Paid memberships are administered through Memberful, with payments processed through Stripe. These providers process the information needed to complete purchases, renew memberships, manage accounts, and prevent fraud. Working Parent does not store your full payment-card number on this website.
Website hosting, cookies, and analytics
Working Parent is built on WordPress and uses services provided by WordPress.com/Automattic for website operation and security. The site also uses Google Analytics to understand traffic and how readers use the site. These services may use cookies or similar technologies and may receive technical information such as browser type, device information, pages viewed, referral source, and approximate geographic information.
How information is used
- To send the publication and other messages you requested.
- To administer memberships, payments, and access to paid material.
- To respond to questions and support requests.
- To understand readership, improve the site, and protect it from abuse or fraud.
- To maintain business, tax, accounting, security, and legal records where required.
Sharing and sale of information
Working Parent does not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers only as needed to operate the publication, deliver email, host and analyze the site, administer memberships, process payments, or comply with legal obligations. Working Parent may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect the publication, its readers, or others from fraud, abuse, or security threats.
Retention and your choices
Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, subject to legal, accounting, security, and service-provider requirements. You may unsubscribe from publication emails at any time. Members can manage membership information through their Memberful account. You may request access to or deletion of information held directly by Working Parent through the Contact page. Some records may need to be retained where required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
Children
Working Parent is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. The publication does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through its signup or membership forms.
Changes and questions
This policy may be updated as the publication or its services change. The date at the top of the page will be revised when material changes are made. Questions or privacy requests may be submitted through the Contact page.
